ARTIST TEXT: "In these series of semi-sculptural works I present an ensemble of free-standing, plywood silhouettes attired in undulating, baroque robes made of collaged paper and paint. These works incarnate for me the subject of « the artist » alluding to a performative context, and to characters such as actresses, opera singers, acrobats, clowns, etc., who are, simultaneously, author, subject and material in regards to the making of their art. Within this colourful costume ball, multiple references to the history of cinema, fashion, set design, shadow theatre, as well as popular culture, festively coexist in a dialogue that is at times joyous, at times somber and ironic."
